Are you an accountant? Learn how ERP systems can help you in your daily work

ERP systems can not only improve the work of the accountant, but also reduce the number of errors to a minimum. Here are the most important ERP tools from the point of view of accounting.

Accounting is usually defined as the recording of all events that affect the ownership of an enterprise. In practice, it boils down to recording revenues, expenditures and documents that flow into and out of the company. Proper bookkeeping is extremely important not only because it allows to obtain a lot of information important for the company's activity, but also because the obligation to keep it has been imposed on entrepreneurs by law and because accounting is often the object of control of state bodies. ERP systems can not only improve the work of the accountant, but also reduce the number of errors to a minimum. Here are the most important ERP tools from the point of view of accounting.

Revenue and expense ledger

This module will prove useful not only in those enterprises that settle their tax on the basis of income and expense books, but also in those where the basis for the settlement is a record of income covered by a lump-sum income tax. ERP system equipped with electronic revenue and expense book is able to prepare tax returns, calculate advance income tax payments, record salaries and documents, as well as keep revenue and expense book in accordance with the law and without mistakes. Working with this module is much more convenient than in the case of paper accounting and, as the statistics show, it generates fewer errors.

Full accounting

There are also ERP systems that will be able to support much more aspects of accounting, such as accounting for more than one partial journal, calculation and sending of annual tax returns, predecration of documents or general VAT settlements. Modern ERP systems are designed in such a way that full accounting with their use is 100% compliant with the Accounting Act and that companies that use them do not have to be afraid of any control. With this module, we can also record documents that are not VAT documents, such as insurance policies or internal evidence, but it is also possible to automatically collect, process and archive data.

Records of fixed assets

This is another aspect of the work of an accountant in which ERP systems can help. This module supports, among others, the recording of office or production plant equipment, allows for automatic posting of fixed asset documents and depreciation write-offs, as well as assigning responsibility for equipment to a specific person, e.g. on the basis of his or her competence, territorial allocation or function. The ERP module dealing with fixed asset recording can also be used for handling legal and intangible assets, although it is not its primary function.
