We're preparing for a recruitment interview
Job applicants in most cases do not have an easy task. One of the biggest challenges they face is to present themselves properly in the eyes of their potential employer and show their best side. In addition, many recruitment specialists set an additional task for candidates - to prepare a professional presentation on a previously selected topic. Sounds like a school assignment? Perhaps, but in reality it is a much more important thing.
One of the objectives of this exercise is to ensure that the candidate is able to search for information on the subject and then present it in an appropriate way. Reading opinions on the largest Internet portals devoted to a broadly understood career, such as pracuj.pl, one can easily notice that many candidates for specific positions do not fully know how to start preparing such a presentation at all. Their topics are also very diverse. Sometimes it is about presenting a specific company, place or product - then the task is a bit easier. However, the stairs start in a situation where the recruiter proposes a more complex issue, such as introducing oneself. What details should be agreed at the beginning?
In order to carry out such a project, at the very beginning it is worth to sit quietly, and without haste to determine all the details on how such a presentation should look like - the best thing to do is to still do it with a recruiter who will evaluate the outcome of our work. The basis is, of course, the length of such a presentation; if we do not know about it beforehand, we may find ourselves preparing something too long or too modest. It is also worthwhile to learn about all technical issues. Do you have to bring your own computer with you? Will you be provided with a display and a projector? Which format is preferred and which program is best used to prepare the presentation? Convince audiences The Business Environment Presentation is typically designed for one purpose only - to convince audiences to buy a particular product or use a particular service. It is therefore necessary to present the issue in the best possible light and to highlight all its strengths in particular. The same principle should be followed in the situation when the "subject" of the presentation is your person. Then your task is to present yourself in such a way as to appear as the most attractive employee in the eyes of the recruiters and convince them that it is worth hiring you.
As far as the form of presentation is concerned, it is definitely worth betting on originality. It may be an interesting idea to describe your resume solely on the basis of photographs and images. Of course, originality in itself is not attractive - it is necessary to deal with it in a proper way. In any case, all the work should start with the preparation of a general vision, i.e. how the presentation should look like. It is important for recruiters to remember it for a long time. Not always, however, originality by force is the best solution - so do not be afraid of proven, standard solutions. Of course, the main element of such a presentation is its content and what it can convey. Nevertheless, it is important to prepare it in a proper way from the technical point of view, so that the whole thing looks really professional. We are talking about graphic design in particular. A presentation made at the level of a high school student performing a homework in computer science will not, unfortunately, make a very good impression. On the other hand, be careful not to exaggerate. Excessive "show-off" is also not a positive feature of a presentation and does not make a good impression.
The most common mistakes - We have just said about the most common mistakes during the creation of such presentations. Usually it is an exaggeration in one direction or the other - creating either too simple or too complicated presentations. In addition, you need to find the right balance between the amount of text and graphics. Too much text is not a good thing, because it makes it easy to get lost in the content of the presentation and in the end do not draw any concrete conclusions from it. Of course, you have to find the golden mean also in terms of graphics. Eye-catching animations are highly recommended, but the "effect" makes the presentation simply unreadable. All photos and graphics should of course be of the highest quality and fully legible for the recipient. Placing old photos in which it is difficult to discern will cause that our presentation will be rejected in advance. Before meeting with recruiters it is worth to practice a little. You should not show any stress during the presentation, even if it is sometimes quite difficult. All the content prepared by yourself must be presented smoothly, without any "hanging around". Of course, a certain number of mistakes is acceptable and there is nothing unnatural in it. However, if they happen repeatedly during the presentation, it is unlikely that we will make a good impression.
